FIREFOX RATED 8 OUT OF 10: PORT CITY'S BROWSER OF CHOICE!
THE GOOD: Firefox has a tabbed interface; includes a pop-up blocker; built-in, multiple search tools; and built-in RSS reader. It is stable and free.
THE BAD: No ActiveX support, so not all sites work in Firefox.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Firefox's tabbed browsing, RSS support, security features, and overall cool factor make it more attractive than Internet Explorer.

NETSCAPE RATED 7.7 OUT OF 10:
THE GOOD: Intuitive interface; emphasizes secure browsing; lots of customization options; live weather and newsfeeds; displays site certificates to combat phishing attacks.
THE BAD: RSS feeds are cumbersome to add; installs AOL AIM whether or not you want it.
THE BOTTOM LINE: We like Netscape 8's customization features and its emphasis on security; however, we wish this new version included the native RSS support found in Apple Safari RSS.

OPERA RATED 7.5 OUT OF 10:
THE GOOD: Opera 9 integrates BitTorrent media downloads, offers Widgets for your desktop, and is more secure than Internet Explorer.
THE BAD: Not all of the new features in Opera 9 will be useful to everyone; the RSS feeds page is clunky at best.
THE BOTTOM LINE: We really like Opera 9, but we like it more as the cool, arty browser that it is and not as our everyday workhorse for the Internet.

INTERNET EXPLORER RATED 7 OUT OF 10: PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM FOR US!
THE GOOD: Includes a pop-up blocker; takes advantage of built-in security within Windows XP SP2; selectively blocks ActiveX support.
THE BAD: Suffers from chronic security holes; no RSS reader; available only within Windows XP SP2; expensive technical support.
THE BOTTOM LINE: Unless your business has specific ActiveX technology needs, you are much more secure running Firefox than Internet Explorer.

SAFARI(MAC) RATED 7.8 OUT OF 10
THE GOOD: Fast; includes a pop-up blocker; simple interface; integrated Google toolbar; easy bookmark management; features tabbed browsing and autofill.
THE BAD: Lacks advanced security or customization settings; no way to customize default toolbar search engine.
THE BOTTOM LINE: If you're only after speed, try Safari but keep your other browser, too. Try Camino if you crave advanced settings.
